Most Effective Potty Training Strategy
Potty training a dog is not such a gargantuan task as you might think or have been made to believe. But before starting the process, you should let it realize that you are the boss at all times.
Find a loving way of showing your dog that you are in control and that it must do whatever you instructs it to but do not hit your dog. This makes it
scared of you. Once you have done this, you have just done the most tasking part of training your dog. So, when next you catch it messing up the house with urine or whatever, you do not need to hit it with a stick or kick the dog, just say no in a raised voice and immediately show the dog the way to its potty. Potty training a dog is a very daunting task to get involved in. It is a particular part of dog training that dog owners find really hard to accomplish. If you own a dog and you are fed up with the way your dog messes up the house, then this information is just for you.
The Reward Strategy
Many of the times when you do this, it automatically know it should not potty there but in its potty. Each time the dog potties at the right spot make it a principle to praise it or compensate it somehow. This will make it know that every time it urinates or defecates outside; he gets a pat on the back, gets praised or gets something to chew. You can continue this for a month, two or three and before you know what is happening, your dog will get used to doing its thing at its dedicated spot.
These strategy works like magic and now that it has been revealed to you, why not try it on your dog that messes the whole place up and discover how easy it is to train a dog without any issue. You will surely be at peace with your dog and you and your dog will even be better friends because you will not have to clean up your rug each time it messes it up.
The reason why this is such a successful method of rewarding is that you can positively motivate your dog, and make him feel that he is in control of the process. Your dog will feel more encouraged and confident because his actions are positively recognized.
Incorporating a rewards chart into your regular potty training routine would make the whole process more enjoyable, because your dog would be more entertained. More importantly, it would take the pressure off him because for him, it would feel less like of an everyday task when you use a rewards chart.
The final benefit of using a sticker chart is that you don’t have to use rewards like food or toys, this is not recommended as your dog can learn to expect those and this may have adverse effects on your efforts when potty training is done.
